Contractual agreements are the cornerstone of our free enterprise system and cover a wide-range of personal and business matters. A contract is a legally enforceable agreement between two parties (individuals, businesses, or an individual and a business). It can be simple or complex, but must always contain three basic components: the offer, the consideration, and the acceptance. When one party fails to perform under an existing contract, the party is said to be in breach of contract and a lawsuit for money damages or specific performance might ensue. Contract disputes can be stressful, time-consuming, and result in burdensome legal fees. Seeking sound counsel from an attorney who is experienced in contract review and drafting is the best way to head off potential disputes before they begin. At Cole Law Group we will use our business and legal expertise to assist our clients in drafting solid written contracts or in protecting their rights through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation if complications should arise from a previous contractual agreement.

Appellate Law

  • Criminal Appeals
  • Commercial Litigation Appeals
  • Contractual/Business Appeals
  • Family Law Appeals
  • Medical Malpractice Appeals
  • Personal Injury Appeals
  • Original Proceedings
  • Amicus Briefs

Typically, all criminal or civil cases are initially heard at the trial court level. After a verdict is rendered from the trial court, a dissatisfied party to the case can consider appealing to a state or federal appellate court. An appellate attorney will review trial records, analyze case law, and draft briefs in order to persuade appellate courts to overturn lower court decisions or change the interpretation of statutory law. Mr. Cole’s experience as a federal judicial assistant afforded him unique insight into how appellate judges actually decide cases and how the appellate court system is administered. His research and creative/analytical thinking skills, his persuasive writing ability, his practical knowledge of numerous substantive areas of the law, and his oral advocacy skills qualify him to zealously represent clients throughout the appeals process.
